EAGLE Oy was founded 2007 in order to start manufacturing high technology small size windmill powerplants to individual homes and small industries. Eagle had in use a high technology windmill generators and connectors directly to the grid but the old technology blades where not satisfactory due to their low efficiency and demand for too high wind speed. Eagle started co-operation with AMROY and its subcontractors and partners in order to develop a better blade for lower wind speed and higher efficiency.
The first generation result were the Eagle 2KW and 5KW blades. In comparison the original blade length of 2KW model grew from 1,7 m to 2,25 m and thus the diameter became almost 50 % larger enabling more power. The weight of the original blade was 8 kg and it was lowered at the same time to 3,6 kg. All this was possible because of the HYBTONITE® CNT modified epoxy resin from Amroy. The higher fatigue and impact strength of the BAYER CNT modified HYBTONITE® enable designers to use different fibers and wall thickness without risking the strength of the blade. Finally the blade was put to subcontractors fatigue tests and results were superior. The old blade lasted with maximum 40 m/s theoretical wind load only 15 minutes but the new blade lasted more then 3 weeks at the same power and the tests were finally stopped after 4 weeks – the blade still operational. In real life the blade is designed to start turning away from wind at 20 m/s wind and the operational wind is from 2m/s to 20m/s.
All tests were done at subcontractors own fatigue machine but later verified in real life at test production site in Hollola, Finland. The blade has been at show in JEC Composites in Paris, AWEA in USA and in fairs in Finland and is expected to enter to the market during fall 2008. Test plants have been at use in Hollola and in Pori and first batch of orders for 500 power plants have been received and ordered.
The new generation connector to the grid is developed in Finland by two subcontractors and enables lower power losses and direct assembly to the grid. The Eagle team totally consists of several Finnish companies and research and raw material partners like Bayer, Amroy and Universities in Finland.

Scientific research and tests from Amroy CNT technology including a scientific research of the technology (ZHOU et Al) and laminate tests (3-point bending etc) from KETEK University in Finland. The material technology is patented for Amroy and used by Eagle in all small size windmill blades up to 20 meters length.
